Dean's Message

I welcome you to the Indiana University School of Social Work and I am pleased to have this opportunity to tell you about our School.  Our School of Social Work was founded in 1911, making it the oldest university based social work school in the nation.  We at the School of Social Work are proud of our history and are committed to excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, and providing service.  We provide a rich array of academic experiences for our students and we educate them to become competent, caring professionals.  We offer the Associate of Science in Labor Studies, the Bachelor of Social Work, the Bachelor of Science in Labor Studies, the Master of Social Work, and the Ph.D. in Social Work.  The IU School of Social Work is ranked 26th in the nation.  We are dedicated to preparing students to become highly competent practitioners and effective leaders.  Renowned faculty are on the leading edge of practice and research and utilize their expertise both nationally and internationally.  Our faculty care about each of our students and they are passionate about the work they do.  They work hard to give students the best learning experience possible.  I know you will agree with many of our graduates when they say the Indiana University School of Social Work is truly special.
