Brown County in the fall

Brown County forested landLocated in southern Indiana, Brown County offers some of the most densely forested land in the state, making it particularly picturesque in the fall. Pioneers who settled there after 1820 relied on lumber for cash as they fought off wolves and bears. An artists' colony settled there in the early 1900s. Today original art, the landscape, and the community's hardscrabble history draw visitors by the millions annually. Brown County is a year-round vacation destination. The scenic beauty of the area draws you in; the charm keeps inviting you back. The area represents a place where the spirit, atmosphere and traditions of Hoosier pioneer settlers have been preserved. Nature's quiet solitude offers a stress-free atmosphere for family vacations, reunions, retreats and getaways.

Brown County in the summer

Brown County Summer TimeSummer is the perfect time to enjoy Brown County and all it has to offer.  Many people are familiar with Brown County State Park – and its breath-taking views!  Many others are familiar with Nashville – full of charming shops, candy stores, restaurants, and more!  But not everyone is aware of the huge indoor Water Park and Aquatic Center at the Abe Martin Lodge in the State Park.  The spiral water slides, fountains, waterfalls, and whirlpools are a big hit with everyone!

Down the road, closer to Nashville, there’s the Poolside Saturday Night Cookouts at the Brown County Inn.  In addition to the swimming pool, there’s family fun in the form of miniature golf, game room, playground, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts.

Another fascinating attraction is the Pioneer Village and Museum, located in downtown Nashville beside the old Log Jail.  The Pioneer Village provides spinning and weaving demonstrations every Saturday and Sunday.  It’s full of historical facts about Nashville and Brown County.
