There will be meeting of the Indiana Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care on May 20-21, 2004, at the Marten House Hotel, which will feature a panel of Commission members.  For more information on the meeting, please contact Beth Petrucce, Director of Medical Social Services for St. Vincent's Hospital at 317-338-6301.

Legislative Charges:

Examine the qualifications and training of service providers, including foster parents, adoptive parents, child caring institution staff, child placing agency staff, case managers, supervisors, and administrators, making recommendations for a training curriculum and other necessary changes.  In carrying out the Commission's responsibiliites, it shall consider pertinent studies on children at risk of abuse or neglect and on abused or neglected children and their families.

Issues to Consider:

  • Evaluate qualifications and training of case managers 
  • Evaluate licensing rules in the private sector 
  • Examine State contracts and their requirements
  • Evaluate current training programs 
  • Report unmet needs that are discovered
  • Form recommendations and submit a written report to the full Commission by March 30
