Mobilization Training The Indiana University School of Social Work is responsible for the mobilization training component of the Indiana Latino Tobacco Control Coalition Grant, granted to the Indiana Latino Institute, Inc. During the first year, this part of the grant entails the identification and training of health promoters on mobilization interventions based on the assets existing in their communities. The training is guided by a strengths perspective and empowerment perspective framework. One of the central themes in the training is that of relationship building, that is, the materials will emphasize the need to “build and rebuild the relationships between and among local residents, local associations, and local institutions” (Kretzmann & McKnight, 1993, p.9).
