Sameeh Khamis, the maestro of technology at the Indiana University School of Social Work, has received the 2011 Glenn W. Irwin, Jr. M.D. Experience Excellence Recognition Award at an employee’s recognition ceremony.
Khamis, the director of technology at the school, is responsible with working with more than 70 core faculty, 76 associate faculty, 43 staff people and approximately 1,000 degree seeking students. Aside from performing the day-to-day tasks that keep the School and its programs moving forward, Khamis is in charge of more than 120 desk top computers, 25 laptop computers, a primary and backup server, two web sites and manages all of the Social Work and Labor Studies web sites on all campuses.
The School depends upon Khamis to linking various campuses together for video conferences and maintains 10 to 15School listservs to help keep students and faculty in touch across the state.
“When one looks at the sheer volume of tasks, activities, responsibilities, and assistance he supplies to the School’s many faculty, staff, and students, which are truly above and beyond his assigned job duties, it is easy to see that Mr. Khamis is the ideal candidate for this award,” Dr. Irene Queiro-Tajalli, Executive Director of Labor Studies, wrote in nominating him for the honor.
Also honored at the ceremony was Ali Godby-Schwab, the School’s Financial Affairs Coordinator, for 25 years of service on the IUPUI campus.
