Dr. Patrick Sullivan is named to CSWE-NADD Social Work and Integrated Behavioral Health Curriculum Project

Dr. Patrick Sullivan of the Indiana University School of Social Work has been selected to serve as a member of CSWE-NADD Social Work and Integrated Behavioral Health Curriculum Project curriculum development team for the Integrated Health Policy and Services Course.

Dr. Patrick SullivanThe group is charged with expanding the preparation of social work students to work in an integrated care environment. Dr. Sullivan noted the School of Social Work has a health and mental health track, but the fact of the matter is those two things are more often together than apart. “Funding and services are starting to go that way,” he said of a combined approach. Community mental health centers are starting to partner with physical health providers, he explained. “We have health care centers starting to bring in behavioral health services.” Our curriculum has to match that trend, Dr. Sullivan said.

CSWE said the focus of the is to develop competency-based curriculum for a three-credit/hour course composed of the following: syllabus, reading list, suggested assignments, and accompanying slide deck for each topic area and to deliver the course in the year following its development.

As part of the appointment, Dr. Sullivan will receive a stipend of $5,000 and reimbursement for related travel expenses.
