About

My name is Samantha McMinn, my pronouns are she/her/hers. I'm a licensed social worker having received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Indiana University, with the latter from the IU School of Social Work.
I am excited to be a new Visiting Lecturer with the IU School of Social Work, Bloomington campus. I look forward to teaching and mentoring students on their paths to becoming social workers. I have been and continue to be a field instructor for MSW practicum students.
My experience in social service dates back to 2006 with my work with the Indiana Department of Corrections with both juvenile and adult corrections. In 2010, I began a career with the Department of Child Services with experience in delivering training and developing curriculum, in partnership with the DCS/IUSSW Child Welfare Education and Training Partnership, as well as case management practice in the field. Most recently, I have worked in the hospice field for the last 5.5 years. I am a Certified Grief Specialist. I continue to provide consultation and oversight to the Psychosocial and Support Division of a local hospice agency.
I live in Morgan County in a lake community where I get plenty of self-care through boating, floating & gardening with my loving spouse, Richard. We love our 7 bio and bonus children; 2 grandchildren; 5 dogs; 3 cats; 1 bird.

I am currently studying for my LCSW and have a goal of starting my PhD in Social Work once I have a good handle on full-time teaching.
