About

I am a Licensed Social Worker who is passionate about continued education. Prior to my current position as a Lecturer in the School of Social Work, I instructed therapeutic groups for students who benefited from an evidence based practiced curriculum that focuses on trauma informed mental and emotional support. In this role I have facilitated teacher and community trainings and I had the opportunity to present at the 2020 Texas School Social Workers Conference.

Prior to that I worked as a Re-entry Program Specialist. That position allowed me to
instruct evidence-driven therapy groups with participants seeking interventions to
successfully return from incarceration to the community. As a counselor at the Youth Services Bureau, I instructed trainings and group facilitation for residents, parents, volunteers and community organizations. In addition to my professional experience, I have a solid educational foundation which was nurtured by the diverse faculty that was made available to me as a non-traditional student at Indiana University-Bloomington and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. I am a strong advocate of promoting equality and diversity in the field of social work as my past on-the-job experience further demonstrated the importance of a
healthy balance of different people from different backgrounds. I saw first-hand how working together and creating a partnership with families and community members helped to ensure an increase in rapport which led to an increase in utilized services.

My current position as a Lecturer allows the opportunity to continue to promote an inclusive environment with the goal of attracting and maintaining a wider perspective of diverse, talented, future social workers who advocate for services and social justice.
