Professor Wilkins joined the social work department in the Fall of 2019. Professor Wilkins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Wichita State University and a master's degree in Social Work from Indiana University School of Social Work.
Professor Wilkins brings over 21 years of experience in the social services field serving in micro, mezzo and macro social work practice. She has worked with individuals and families in a variety of host settings, from working at the Kansas Department for Children and Families where she investigated claims of neglect and abuse of minor children to working as a supervisor at an agency providing services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Most recently, Professor Wilkins was offered a position at an addiction's treatment center where she will provide a full range of therapeutic interventions to clients in treatment for substance misuse.
Professor Wilkins has three years of teaching experience and has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She is co-owner of The Nia Box™ a monthly subscription box providing concrete resources and practical tools to beginner, intermediate and senior level social workers who assist individuals and families in their communities with accomplishing their goals and achieving a higher quality of life.
