About
A seasoned social worker with over two decades of experience in child welfare and leadership, Wayne Hawk currently serves as a faculty member at the Indiana University School of Social Work. He holds an MSW degree from the same institution, specializing in Child Welfare, Leadership and Field.
Throughout his career, Wayne has been deeply committed to supporting children, adolescents, and families. He has worked at both state and federal levels, gaining valuable insights into the challenges and complexities of the field.
In 2016, Wayne transitioned to academia, bringing his practical experience to IUSSW. Wayne served as the BSW Child Welfare Workforce Coordinator and was instrumental in establishing the Child Abuse and Neglect Certificate program. He collaborated with the Child Welfare Education and Training Partnership to create, develop and implement the Preparing for Success (P4S) program, a groundbreaking initiative designed to support newly hired Department of Child Services (DCS) Family Case Managers in Indiana.
The P4S program has been a resounding success, providing tailored training and support to over 1000 Family Case Managers each year across the state. Wayne's dedication to fostering the next generation of social workers is evident in his work on this innovative program and his work at the university level.
Currently, Wayne is responsible for the administrative aspects of field education, overseeing the recruitment and development of Field Instructors and Community Agencies. He also provides essential consultation to Agency Partners, Field Instructors, Field Liaison, and students.
