IUPUI Master of Social Work Student Association announces new leadership for 2020-2021 school year

When Tianna Ceaser and Dana Hunter became president and vice president of the IUPUI Master of Social Work Student Association (MSWSA) this fall, they could have been intimidated by the challenge of leading in a pandemic. Instead, they saw it as an opportunity to support students in creative new ways.
“If there was ever a time to be in leadership with an organization such as MSWSA, the time is now — especially with what is going on in the world today,” Hunter said.

Ceaser and Hunter have exciting plans to enhance MSW student involvement on campus and in the community. Their vision is to include students in MSW curriculum development, facilitate discussions on social justice, and expand fundraising and recruitment efforts in a virtual setting.
These MSWSA leaders will also forge relationships with new community partners. The IU School of Social Work currently partners with Paw’s Pantry, an on-campus food pantry for IUPUI students and staff in need. Ceaser and Hunter hope to expand the school’s community outreach to organizations such as social service agencies, non-profit groups, and homeless shelters.
The MSWSA seeks creative, driven individuals to join them in advocating for graduate students in the IU School of Social Work. Student leaders will have opportunities to plan online events and workshops, fundraise, and facilitate relationships with community partners and alumni.
The MSWSA general body meets on the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m., and the E-board meets on the first Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. To get involved, email Tianna Ceaser, president at Ticeaser@iu.edu, or Dana Hunter, vice president at Danahunt@iu.edu.
