Community Partner Spotlight: Volunteers of America
Our mission is to transform lives and help people reach their full potential by offering hope and restoring dignity. Volunteers of America is a national non-profit. VOA Ohio and Indiana cover both states. Our immediate reach in Indiana is from Ft. Wayne to Evansville.
We offer a very unique experience in that we are not a CMHC and provide addiction services to women with children and pregnant women. Our program is the most trauma-informed residential program around, we also do radical hospitality to make our clients feel supported, cared for, and at home.
When employees feel supported and important they perform better. We want our employees to know that we have a high standard and we are there to help them achieve that high standard. We could not complete our mission without the strong commitment of our employees.
In a chaotic environment that is always changing. Our organization looks for someone that can put their own issues and prejudices aside and focus on the client’s needs. We look for someone that is not here for themselves but here for the clients, the positive energy we get back is a bonus, but should not be our motivation. We look for critical thinkers, people who can work well on their own and are self-starters. We look for someone with good professional ethics and boundaries, and someone who can take constructive criticism. We also need someone who can write well and is very computer literate.
