Indiana Minority Health Coalition, Inc. (IMHC)

Indiana Minority Health Coalition, Inc. (IMHC) is a statewide non-profit organization that exists to enhance the quality of life through education, advocacy, and quality health care services for racial and ethnic minorities. Many of the issues that racial and ethnic minorities face stem from their social status. This status influences their overall health and well-being. Partnering with IUSSW allows IMHC, students, and faculty to gain and provide a context for students to learn about our targeted populations and their respective needs while also developing skills and abilities to become solutionists by creating programs, products, and services to address these needs. The problems that communities face is dynamic, just like COVID-19, and on-going learning and skills enhancement is the only way to remain relevant in addressing these ever-evolving issues that are encountered. A social worker’s perspective brings two important things.

First, it brings a broader lens to address issues from the individual to society-at-large.

Second, it optimally synergizes available resources to provide practical solutions, directly and indirectly.
