Indiana University – Bloomington Bachelor of Social Work student Cynthia Veyna, selected social work as her career of choice because of her strong dedication to creating change, breaking generational curses, and helping individuals heal from trauma. Cynthia enjoys setting goals with others and being there to see them succeed and have the opportunity to work hands-on, making her decision to work in the social work field that much easier.

Currently, Cynthia is completing her practicum with the Department of Child Services for Greene County, where she serves as an intern who will soon step into the role of Family Case Manager. Cynthia is also a member of the Social Work Student Association and volunteers occasionally at Middle Way House‘s after-school program.

Regarding future plans, Cynthia is interested in learning more about mental health disorders and how they impact others’ lives, and what can be done to manage and live a healthy life with existing mental health disorders.
Cynthia says that the most important lesson she learned is that she cannot please everyone.
