She began her college journey after relocating from her home state to Indianapolis in 2017 and has been an Indiana resident for 6 years. Her 30-year history of addiction, incarceration, family dysfunction, and illness led her to want to devote her life to helping others in similar situations. “Many low-income minorities who face challenges and barriers in society feel defeated. They think that they have no way out of their situation and no idea of how to change their circumstances. I am here as an example of how untrue that is.” Sheree states.

She transferred from IUPUI to the IU Fort Wayne campus and is now in her final year of the BSW program. She plans to continue her education and pursue her MSW. Sheree is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and was a recipient of the Bowen Scholars Program at both Ivy Tech University and IUPUI. She has many volunteer experiences with the Salvation Army, Indianapolis Public Library, and John Boner Neighborhood Schools in Indianapolis. Her hobbies include decorating on a budget and watching good movies. She also enjoys spending times with her 2 children, ages 35 and 26, and 2 grandchildren, ages 13 and 11.
