Indiana University School of Social Work, student smiling at cameraRavyn received the Dr. Carol Hostetter Scholarship in January 2022 to help with tuition expenses during the last semester of her senior year.  She is currently in her first year of the IUSSW MSW program. Ravyn plans to apply to the Cancer Institute of Indiana where she could start her supervision work required for the LCSW certification.  Her passion is to help families that have been affected by cancer and she plans on continuing that passion throughout her career as a social worker. Outside of school, she enjoys time with friends as well as going to thrift stores to see what there is to up-cycle. During her time in Bloomington, she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and enjoyed spending time with her sorority sisters and participating in philanthropy events. She also loves to spend time outdoors by the lake or hiking at the national forest.  Ravyn shared what your gift toward her education means to her.

“First off, I would like to start by saying thank you. Without your kindness, I would have had no way to get these funds. It is very difficult to get approved for loans due to my mother’s cancer and needing a cosigner. My father can help with cosigning but it is hard to get anymore loans put under his name so this will help me greatly. Instead of using the money that I make from my job on tuition, I will be able to save that money for food and future rent/utilities bills which will help so I do not have to live paycheck by paycheck. This scholarship will give me the cushion that I desperately needed with tuition bills coming up to be able to save more money and put it towards future bills. I am extremely grateful for the money I have been awarded and I will put it to good use. Thank you for your kindness and assistance, as well as your investment in my future. I will continue to work extremely hard for my dreams and thanks to you, I will make it a couple more months with less stress on my plate and on my mind. Thank you again and happy holidays, I wish you the best.”
