On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, twenty-one MSW students from Dr. Susan Glassburn’s Grief & Loss Class joined Community Hospital’s Hospice Program, In Touch Bereavement, for an event focusing on helping people who are experiencing the loss of a loved one or have a family member in hospice during the holidays.

The focus for our students was to help attendees devise a plan to handle or anticipate the holidays. Our MSW students provided multiple centers with crafts, supportive materials, activities, and refreshments to help participants express their feelings of grief and hope.

“I was proud of them (our students),” stated Dr. Susan Glassburn, assistant professor, IU School of Social Work. “We had around 25 grieving people attend the event. We had kids attend, too, so kids’ tables were available with lots of crafts. It was a welcoming community event.”
