IU School of Social Work South Bend Students Develop Advocacy Projects
Today, on the IU South Bend campus, social work students taking course, SWK 352-Social Welfare Policy and Practice, created advocacy projects to influence social policy and participate in civic engagement. The students sought to educate others about legislation being considered in this year’s legislative session and urged people to contact their representatives to either support or oppose bills based on their perceived impact.
“As social workers, legislative advocacy is an important part of the ethical responsibility to our profession and community,” said Dr. Otrude Nontobeko Moyo, professor and MSW program and campus director at Indiana University School of Social Work, South Bend.
