
Yvonne Fitzgerald, a licensed social worker and a valued member of the Indiana University School of Social Work, has been promoted to assistant dean of student success.
“I’m honored by the opportunity to be a part of a school and an administrative team that centers their work around students,” said Yvonne Fitzgerald. “As the assistant dean for student success, I’m excited to work alongside faculty, staff, and students to create a framework that guides students toward successful outcomes during and after their journey with the IU School of Social Work. Together, we’ll foster a student-centered environment where every student is valued, supported, and empowered to succeed academically, personally, and professionally.”
Fitzgerald has more than 20 years of experience in social work in the field and student services on the Indiana University, Indianapolis campus. Her roles have included director of academic advising at University College and, during her tenure at the IU School of Social Work, she has served as student services coordinator, recruitment specialist, and most recently, assistant Master of Social Work program director.
Fitzgerald earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Abilene Christian University and her Master of Social Work from the Indiana University School of Social Work in 2003. She maintains volunteer relationships with faith-based, youth-serving, and community-serving organizations throughout the U.S.A.
The assistant dean for student success is a new role for the School. The position is responsible for student initiatives on six campuses and an online program for the purpose of enhancing student experience and creating strategic leadership.
