Amy Murphy-Nugen
Dr. Amy Murphy-Nugen will share her research intersecting social determinants of health (SDoH), housing policy, and community engagement at the national Family Promise Conference being hosted in Indianapolis in October. Her work bridges academic knowledge and practical experience to advance evidence-based policies that enhance individual well-being and community quality of life.
At the invitation of Family Promise, a national organization with a mission to prevent and end homelessness for families with children, Dr. Murphy-Nugen will facilitate two workshops.
Workshop 1: Social Determinants of Health (SDoH): Understanding Root Causes for Sustainable and Equitable Impact #
Explore how the conditions in which we are born, live, learn, and work impact our well-being and quality of life. This workshop will review the SDoH framework, present a comprehensive SDoH-informed C.A.R.E.S intervention model, and engage participants in discussions on integrating root cause understanding to pursue sustainable and equitable housing policies.
Workshop 2: Housing Loss: Solution-informed Policy and Programs to Dismantle Inequities & Address Grief #
Learn about the psychological impact of housing loss and the concept of disenfranchised grief. This workshop will share research findings on grief associated with housing loss and guide discussions on trauma-informed policy and program innovations.
