The State of Coverage 2023 Policy Summit: Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) for Hoosier Kids

Sara Rosenbaum will speak about the modernization of EPSDT and how this vital, mandatory federal program can be implemented well. Panelists will speak to ways the EPSDT program has affected the Black and Brown communities in Indiana, share their personal experiences of screening and identifying children at risk, and include their experiences of treating adults who would have benefited from early screening, detection, and treatment.
- Participants will understand what EPSDT is and why it was put into law.
- Participants will know at least one way to increase implementation of EPSDT.
- Participants will be aware of the disparate need and impact of EPSDT.
Keynote Speaker, Sara Rosenbaum is a graduate of Wesleyan University and Boston University Law School. Rosenbaum has devoted her career to issues of health justice for populations who are medically underserved as a result of race, poverty, disability, or cultural exclusion.
