ICADV Primary Prevention Community of Practice

Learning Objectives: In this interactive session, we will explore ways promoting healthy masculinity and behaviors can be used as a form of decolonization and violence prevention. Through discussion, we will begin to differentiate strategies that promote healthy masculinity on the individual vs. societal level.
This discussion will be led by ICADV’s former youth intern and fellow preventionist, Talha Kahf. As an aspiring social worker and community organizer, Talha has fueled his passion for the field of social justice with his efforts to reclaim parts of his Western Asian culture that were stolen and appropriated as a result of colonization. He currently attends IUPUI and is pursuing an MSW/JD dual degree in hopes that he will work with people who have experienced domestic violence on political advocacy. By wearing the pride he has for who he wants to become as a suit of armor, Talha is looking forward to being active in the statehouse in the upcoming legislative session.
