Universal Language: The Legacy of Sexual and Gender Diversity in the Kinsey Institute Collections
Monday-Friday, 9:30 am - 4 pm, by appointment
Dr. Caroline Beebe Gallery, 3rd Floor, Lindley Hall
For as long as humans have inhabited the planet, we have shared our stories through creative expression. From cave paintings and pillow books to videos and ‘zines, we have revealed a staggering array of perspective s and identities, especially when it comes to sexuality and gender.
The Kinsey Institute has collected material culture related to human sexuality for almost a century. Our holdings number well over half a million items and span more than 2,000 years of human history from across the globe. Ours is the largest public research collection of its kind. Given the huge number of objects we care for, we are in the unique position of being able to share and contextualize the legacy of human sexual and gender diversity.
Exhibition curator: Rebecca Fasman, Kinsey Institute
