Voices from the Field: Introduction to Forensic Social Work
This workshop will start with an introduction to social work and move into what forensic social work is and how social workers can work within the legal system. There will also be a discussion on how the NASW Code of Ethics guides social workers to work with the most marginalized and vulnerable members of our society and why that includes people who have been charged or convicted of a crime.
- Have a better understanding of what forensic social work is and the avenues in which it is utilized.
- Identify the micro, mezzo, and macro-level impacts forensic social workers can have.
- Understand what the NASW Code of Ethics tells social workers about supporting the criminally involved.
