The Indiana University School of Social Work proudly announces an updated Statement on Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
We recognize the diversity and intersectionality of age, sex, gender, race, ethnicity, ability, neurodivergence, religion, sexual orientation, marginality, relationship status, family configuration, color, military service, class, political views, national origin, and migration.
Vision
The Indiana University School of Social Work envisions a world liberated from oppression and discrimination that honors and respects the inherent dignity of all and that realizes equity to achieve full inclusion. The School affirms the identities, histories, and traditions of all people.
Mission
Indiana University School of Social Work provides education and scholarship that critiques and confronts all forms of oppression and discrimination, including racism and anti-Black racism, sexism and misogyny, transphobia and homophobia, patriarchy and chauvinism, xenophobia and imperialism, classism and economic exploitation, religious persecution and domination, ageism and ableism, and nationalism and White supremacy. Our social work education liberates all from these systems of conquest and exclusion through (a) the development of critical thinking to identify, challenge, and eliminate dehumanization and bias; (b) practice-informed research and research-informed practice; and (c) community and policy engagement and advocacy.

Indiana University School of Social Work is devoted to reflection and actions that confront racism, sexism, and imperialism and that advance full diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice:
· IUSSW actively recruits students, staff, and faculty to create and hold accountable a diverse community of alumni and social workers that uplifts silenced and marginalized voices, heals interpersonal and structural discrimination and oppression, and engages in self and community reflection in formation of inclusive communities;
· IUSSW shares democratic decision-making power amongst students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members to dialogue and choose actions that affect safety, transparency, belonging, and support; and
· IUSSW manifests social, economic, environmental, and racial justice through competent and effective social work education and practice that reconciles and confronts historical and contemporary injustices and embodies diversity and anti-racist inclusion.
