Director’s message
The PhD Program in Social Work provides the foundation for a career in research through coursework exploring epistemological, methodological, practical and ethical issues related to the way research is conducted and used in applied settings. Additional courses in theory, policy, and statistics are also designed to relate directly to research skills and knowledge-building. A 6-credit hour research internship provides an opportunity to participate in a variety of aspects of the research process with an experienced research mentor. Opportunities to gain teaching experience in the BSW and MSW programs are also available to PhD students.
