Clinical and Community Practice with focus on Community & Organizational Leadership
Clinical and Community Practice #
The Clinical and Community Practice Concentration curriculum prepares students to work across the micro-to-macro continuum of social work services. Students will learn more breadth and depth in their knowledge base, including theories that underlie various types of social work practice. In addition, the curriculum serves to advance their critical thinking and foundation practice skills for entry into advanced practice courses in a variety of focus areas.
Focus Area on Community & Organizational Leadership #
Students who select Community and Organizational Leadership as their social work focus area prepare for pivotal leadership roles that are essential for developing and sustaining vital organizations and healthy communities through effective human services management, community development, and advocacy. In the Community and Organizational Leadership focus area, students immerse themselves in an educational experience that emphasizes organizational, community, and social policy as primary interventions to promote vital social change in response to the needs of diverse stakeholders and complex social systems. Coursework includes content on organizational and community theories and models, human resources, professional behaviors and decision-making, values and ethics, inclusion and cross-cultural understanding. Additionally, students will build skills in strategic planning, grant writing, fundraising, financial management and budgeting, advanced policy analysis, community organizing and advocacy. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to engage in transformative work that will make a positive difference in the communities you serve.
