Child & Youth Care (CYC) Certification- Professional Level
The Professional Level CYC Certification is designed for practitioners who demonstrate the full range of knowledge and skills described in the five domains of the CYC competency document. This is the highest certification level in the field and is based on extensive demonstration of competence. It is designed for practitioners who:
- Graduate from baccalaureate, masters or doctoral degree programs based on the five competency domains.
- Provide supervision to relatively large groups of staff or serve as a program developer, administrator, senior supervisor, researcher, trainer or educator.
- Have a minimum of two (2) years experience working with children, youth & families (with applicable higher educational attainment).
- Are employed in a variety of settings including: early care and education, after school, mental health, education, group living, emergency shelters, disabilities programs, juvenile justice, recreation, transitional living and community youth serving organizations.
Requirements: Submit application with supporting documentation and pass Professional Level Exam.

Jeananne Reich is a Child & Youth Care (CYC) Practitioner at the Professional Level and has a passion for professional development. With over 20 years in the field, her background includes work in residential facilities, substance abuse centers, and various after-school settings. She has direct service and administrative experience. She is an instructor for the American Heart Association, Safe Sitter, and the Academy for Competent Youth Work. Now, as the Indiana CYC director, Jeananne applies her skills by overseeing CYC certification for the state. She is a graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI where she obtained a B.A. in Psychology/Sociology.
