Area of Interest
Katie McCarthy has been with the IU School of Social Work since August, 2013. She is an Assistant Professor and currently serves as Interim BSW Program Director. Katie explore methods of supporting and strengthening student wellness and social work pedagogy. She has over a decade of experience as a social worker addressing issues of mental health. In Boston she worked with teenagers in day treatment programs and schools, and she worked with adults in community mental health agencies. She also spent several years as a college counselor in Illinois. She completed her doctoral studies Smith College School for Social Work. Katie has an MSW in Clinical Social Work from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work, and a BS in Biology/ English from the University of Notre Dame.
